Research Area: Society & Culture

Our social and cultural research ranges wide both thematically and methodically. We study how policies and reforms are designed and put into effect.

The researchers also investigates which effects policies and reforms have on the individual and society. Furthermore, the democracy aspect of political decision-making is prominent in the research.

Main topics:

  • the relationship between the nation state and the supranational level
  • the relationship between local and central authorities
  • the relationship between politics and administration
  • studies of electoral systems, voting behavior and voter participation

We also investigate the development and management of the welfare state, and the relationship between government, civil society and voluntary organizations - and the impact this has on the quality of services for users and the population.
